There will be living floral Japanese inspired ikebana arrangements created by a local ikebana group displayed alongside the art.

For the My Heritage Show I have had 'Lilla Flicka - Darlana' accepted. I saw this toddler on Midsommar Day in a village where the famous Swedish artist Carl Larsson lived. Every year about 250 of his descendants come back to the village of Sundborn in the province of Darlana in Sweden to celebrate the longest day. This small girl, wearing the first size costume was busy examining something in the grass. I have family who still live in Sweden.

Solo Show

My work reflects a feeling for particular places I have gotten to know in my life. When I experience a landscape, my thoughts go to those who lived here before. I think about what I see would have looked like before the intense settlement of more recent centuries.
I think about the strength of the people whose lives did not depend on modern conveniences, but relied on knowledge, resilience and a closer connection with their natural surroundings and the other living creatures and plants that made their habitats close by.
Galiano has been in my life now for 15 years, and before that, summer vacations on Saturna. I also have connections to the Whistler area, having lived there 40 plus years ago, and been in the mountains since childhood. There was also lot of travel: in BC, up and down the coast and western mountains of North America in my childhood, due to my immigrant Dad wanting to see everything in the landscape. My parents’ wonder at the wild spaces communicated itself to me. My Dad’s interest in weather and his explanations awakened an interest in skies and clouds.
Landscape and light are my muses.

For the second year our Guild is doing an anonymous 10" x 10" fundraiser! October 10-18 2020. Shop early for best selection via the Guild website. www.southdeltaartistsguild.com This year it will be all online. I can't show you what I am submitting,but I will have pieces in the show. Purchase can be made during the open dates of the online show. Payment for the pieces will be directly to the South Delta Artists' Guild. Once the piece is purchased, buyers can elect to pick up locally directly from the artist or arrange for shipping & packaging at the buyer's cost. Mine would ship worldwide via Canada Post including the cost of insurance. Postage would be due directly to me before shipping - arranged together with the buyer after the Guild lets me know who you are. Payable via Paypal internationally, or e-transfer within Canada. All pieces are $100 Canadian funds. $50 dollars goes to the Guild and $50 to myself. For a 10" x 10" of mine, this represents a good saving as a piece of mine this size would normally sell for $175 CAD.

I have 8 pieces in this show. This semi annual exhibition and sale, sponsored by local merchant Sublime Art Materials, is back after being postponed in spring of 2020. Held in the main concourse of the Tsawwassen Town Centre Mall in the heart of Tsawwassen, on 56th street,it's always popular. The space is large with high ceilings, open and well ventilated, and there is plenty of room to view the art with social distancing.

Our Guild shows begin again with this open show for all members. I have 3 pieces in the show.

My demonstration of Acrylic Landscape Painting will be part of this day. Open to the public.

A collaborative show with the Delta Photo Club where photo club members provide photos and guild member artists show work painted from them. Gallery hours Thur - Sun 11am - 4pm

I will be showing in this ONE DAY South Delta Artists' Guild fund-raising event! CASH only! Every painting is 10" x 10" and the price for any painting is $100.00!
The catch is that the paintings are signed on the back this time. You won't know until you've bought it, who painted it.
(I may just have more than one in the show. Normally my work in this size would sell for $175.00 so this is a chance to get one for less.)

Opens at 10am and runs until 4pm so get there early to get full choice. At last count there were about 80 paintings by various artists to choose from.

So bring your $100 and your detecting hat, and figure out your favourite(s). Pick out your favourite and have a guild volunteer take it off the wall for you to line up and pay.

Hours: 9:30 am to 4:30pm (with 1/2hr break - please bring lunch, snacks and beverage each day) Please come at 9:00 to set up.

Level: those with a basic knowledge of colour, value, composition - up to a curious intermediate level.

Hands on opportunities to work with guidance. Explore the process, while making your own marks. The instructor will meet you where you are in your progress.

Goal: You will actively work to produce your own individual art work and see it through to a finish that will leave you inspired to paint more and develop further.

I have had work accepted into the Annual Juried Show Oil and Water. Very proud to say please come by and have a look while the show is open.
